Panel won't autohide ***Solved*** Empty Panel won't autohide ***Solved***

Post by w3ie 20th May 2024, 9:44 pm

Installed KDE Plasma and I have the panel set to autohide.
When I open my browser the panel dips down out of sight then pops right back up.
Anyone else experiencing this Question

w3ie,

I just tested KDE Plasma live iso and I set the panel to autohide. When I open the browser the panel dips down out of sight but only pops back up
when I run my mouse to the bottom of the screen the panel returns as it should. No problem I can find with it?  Cool

I have the standard panel at the bottom of the screen, and a separate panel at the top. Only the one at the top is set to autohide, and it works just fine here.

At this point in time I have to say I can't get into KDE Plasma Razz
The ease of setting up and configuring  Mate vs KDE Plasma is like night and day!
Maybe it's the meds or the gray matter is weak but Mate is my favorite cheers

Back to the panel and autohide Sad
Still no luck making autohide work:

Panel won't autohide ***Solved*** Autohi11

This is a fresh install. Had the same issue on the live usb Shocked
When I open the browser the panel hides then quickly pops back Rolling Eyes

Correction:
When I open the browser the panel does nothing, if I touch the panel with the mouse pointer then move the pointer off the panel it
quickly hide then pops right back up Razz Razz Razz

On my bare metal installation, I made a second panel, set it to autohide, and it works. I opened the Mercury browser, checked again, the panel appears when I touch the border, and hides again when I move the mouse away.

Now I'm writing from the VirtualBox installation I just made, tested the same sequence, and it still works.

I'm guessing it's either a theme setting, or graphics config. I'm running on an AMD APU (5500U).

Ok, I've made a panel and set it on either side or at the top of the screen and it autohides as it should.
However I can not get it to work at the bottom of the screen Rolling Eyes

This may be the issue as the panel is on the edge of the TV  and laptop screen:

It might be that you are sharing a TV and a laptop? Does it work if you log in to a Wayland session?

Just log out into the login manager and select Wayland session and login. Simple as that. Wink

Same problem with Wayland.

Additional info:
With Mate when then the panel is where two screens meet, the panel auto hides but is wonky and very sensitve to display as the mouse
pointer must be carefully placed to get the panel to stay displayed.
