How to configure numlockx? [SOLVED] Empty How to configure numlockx? [SOLVED]

Post by CoreLite 29th October 2024, 6:03 am

I have installed numlockx to turn the Numlock on at login. I can not anything telling me what file to look for to configure it. Can anyone tell me where to find it?

This explains it's usage, but not where or which file to add to:

https://manpages.debian.org/bullseye/numlockx/numlockx.1.en.html

Thank you!

From a test and info I understand about it... You will need to create a file in /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/50-unity-greeter.conf
Code:
[Seat:*]
greeter-session=unity-greeter
greeter-setup-script=/usr/bin/numlockx on

numlockx on
numlockx off

This can be made as a simple gui also.

That works! Last night, I tried adding that last line in that code to the existing file in lightdm.conf. That resulted in booting to a live flash drive to restore the backed up file. I did not realize the need to create the 50-unity-greeter.conf file. Having Numlock on at the log-in is just a convenience thing, but it saves a little bit of aggravation from years of going to the number keypad in Windows for a pin number.

One of those "irritating little things" fixed.

Thank you!
